Tiny Homes & ADUS for Architects and Installers

All-electric high efficiency on and off-grid options for tiny homes and ADUs. See and experience one example of an all-electric tiny home. Learn about options for insulation, water and space heating, cooktops, washer/dryers, solar, storage and more. Get hands on with relevant equipment, review example pricing, availability and associated benefits & potential issues (e.g. noise of appliances in small space; venting necessary in small space, peak loads use if off grid; etc.).
Learning Objectives:
- Enhance opportunities for helping homeowners right size homes and install practical, efficient, all electric appliances
- Recognize how window size and placement can add high value to small home spaces and also create challenges with code compliance
- Identify resources to right-size on-site renewable energy and energy storage systems
- Consider code compliant and practical water heating alternatives for small living spaces
- Explore other areas where code compliance may be challenging and confusing for small houses and where code exceptions may be needed to recognize inherent efficiency of small homes

Parking on Dana Street is by permit only. You may want to consider parking remotely at free or paid parking locations such as at Emerson Park on Nipomo Street and walking the 0.4 miles to the Demo Cottage. See this Google Map Link for directions.
You may also want to consider car pooling, riding a bike or using mass transit. See the City of SLO bus schedule here. Route 2B will get you the closest to our Demo Cottage.
Aging Gracefully Workshop Series
Wednesdays at 6:30 pm
The workshop begins on April 17 and meets every Wednesday for 35 weeks. Join on the days you can and don't worry if you've missed some. Learn about sleep, nutrition, exercise, stress reduction and more!
